My understanding of options is that RG would first need to purchase the options at the strike price before they are officially his to hold or sell. If he does not purchase the options they sit until the expiration date of the options is hit and they are basically worthless and no longer available to him. the only way the options are profitable for RG is for the share price to be above his strike price.
