That makes sense.  Ye ole "Let's swing first because we might hit 'em" stategy.  

As I understand it, the like cases would be likely be joined and sent to the most knowledgeable Fed District.  Most likely in Marshall, TX since the same patents are in question.

My guess is the TPL legal eagles know what's going on in Houston and have made (and are meeting) lots of "friends in high places."   Much needed in those parts....
