I threw the word "may" in there for a reason. While I agree that TPL shouldn't have a say on this, I also KNOW that there is apparent great sensitivity to anything said about anything right now/these days (e.g., no PR with 10Q). These aren't normal circumstances IMO, so I expect some "above and beyond" normal handling of things. It just wouldn't surprise me.
My stronger feel is that they're holding off for formal confirmation of Pohl's replacement, so they can announce both at the same time. Just doing a "so long, and thanks for all the great fish" type PR would just beg the question. IMO, it's best to say the farewells and answer the replacement question in one fell swoop.
Also, recall that PRs cost money to issue. If they put out a PR saying goodbye, then another announcing his replacement a few days or even a week later, some shareholders would probably gripe about the waste of resources. And it would be!
