It might be faster to open an account, then use the online transfer.

I've always had wired funds available on same day. The proceeds from any sale are available immediately for purchases. The only time that I've had to wait the 3 days is when wiring funds out. It might cost a little more than other brokerages, but one gets what one pays for, I've found.

I'm sure that others will recommend equally good brokers.
