There is market perception and there is the reality.  It has been mentioned already that it is not the job of the USPTO to defend the patent claims.  That is the job of the patent owner.  I suspect that all the USPTO does is confirm that the prior art says what is claimed and predates the patent application.  IMHO

Are you trying to make a point or just voicing your dissatisfaction about the market perception?  There is nothing that I am aware of that would indicate that the J2.5 got sweetheat deals.  What makes you think that they got sweetheart deals?  Opty
