As I understand it TPL believes the 584 is the more blatant infringement on the part of ARM. The 584 patent “High performance microprocessor using instructions that operate within instruction groups” One ARM patent, at least to me sounds very similar to “DATA PROCESSING WITH MULTIPLE INSTRUCTION SETS” which doesn’t specify the location of the instruction sets. Although I am not an engineer this is an ARM patent dealing with multiple instruction sets. The filling of the ARM patent pre-dates the 584. It could that ARM failed to completely describe an invention or has made later changes to their processors that do infringe. The patent is for a 16 bit instruction set while IGNITE utilizes 8 bit. This scenario may not even be on the list of possible defenses for ARM. A court case with ARM would be a true test of our metal. SO KIDD we really appreciate the fact that you have a buddy that is a patent lawyer he and you provided some great info. Now if you can come up with a buddy that is a processor engineer you’ll be in the front of the class. http://www.wipo.int/pctdb/en/wo.jsp?WO=1995%2F30188&IA=WO1995%2F30188&DISPLAY=STATUS http://patft.uspto.gov/netacgi/nph-Parser?u=%2Fnetahtml%2Fsrchnum.htm&Sect1=PTO1&Sect2=HITOFF&p=1&r=1&l=50&f=G&d=
