Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. Sells Facilities to ProLogis for USD 735 Million-Reuters

Reuters reported that Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. has sold 17 large distribution facilities in Japan to ProLogis, a real estate developer, for approximately JPY 85 billion

 (USD 735 million).

The Company will invest the proceeds from the sale of its distribution centers in core businesses such as plasma screen TV operations, according to Nihon Keizai Shimbun.

Also buying back stock, for what purpose? To trade in exchange of a settlement? or to sell to pay a settlement. Also they are settling a lawsuit...no trial.

Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd. announced that it has repurchased 9,006,000 shares of its common stock for JPY 19,999,390,000 on the Tokyo Stock Exchange during the period from October 31, 2007 to November 21, 2007. The repurchase was conducted as a part of the Company's share repurchase plan which was announced on April 27, 2007.

Dow Jones reported that South Korea's Samsung SDI Co., Ltd. and Japan's Matsushita Electric Industrial Co., Ltd are moving closer to settling a series of lawsuits over plasma display panel technology that dates back to 2005. PDPs are used in some large flat-screen TVs, for which demand is rising. A Samsung SDI spokesman said the companies have agreed in principle to drop lawsuits against each other and sign a cross-licensing pact regarding various PDP-related technologies.
