I do agree with you about the importance of continued learning. With large class sizes, access to advanced technology and the splintered attention span of kids today, it's hard to give them the solid fundamentals they need in the classroom.  

Written language skills are still important to get ahead in school and at work.  It's up to us to see that our children get these skills.
