I would have preferred a similar voting mechanism on what posts are considered important.

I think the messages(posts) are rated, as well as the poster. Note the number next to the messages after you hit "Back to Forum" button.

I agree sort of Mickey Mouse overall but on high volume days it might be useful if readers do rank the value of a post. Not the poster.
