I was referring to apatentlawyers comment this a.m. about losing the "area" definition. See below.  Also if you look at the original patent there was a section about "latches" I did not read all of it yet and don't really know if I would understand it completely either. A couple seperate topics going on here, sorry for the confusion.

 

For the '148, I think that the "area" terms went against TPL.  The asserted claims are directed at memory occupying a majority of the area.  Ward ruled that the memory was smaller than TPL proposed and that the area was bigger than they proposed.  I am not privvy to the mask layouts so I don't know the practical effect of this ruling.  But in a vacuum, it appears to have gone against TPL.
