I read that the same way you did. In case some don't "get" it, I came up with a grandma analogy:

I'm cleaning and vacuuming the house. This eliminates the dirt and will allow me to polish the furniture. What isn't stated is that the task is not yet completed but will be soon.

(This really does sound like "grandma")
