This is very insightful, well reasoned analysis (and not only because this is also my take on it. LOL). As an attorney and well published author, I too recognize the value of words, and their "thrust."

Lecrone is not going to raise a flag and wave a possible weakness. He is instead wielding a deftly-balanced rapier, while hiding a broadsword in his other hand. Oh, and those bumps under his shirt are two loaded pistols tucked in his (money) belt.

Could we be wrong? Of course. But IMO you nailed this one.
