Both sides present their arguments as to claim construction. I think it's actually more that they clarify what they've already filed brief-wise as to claim construction, and then both sides address issues as they come up/as the judge asks them for info, as he tries to hammer out points of contention. That's the purpose of having everybody in the same room for the Markman, because the arguments are already basically on paper. And then, yes, a decision should come, within around 30 days -- that being, as I recall, what Ron was told by court staff is "normal" period. Ron also pointed out once, if he'll forgive my paraphrase here, that one thing that can happen after the Markman is that one or the other side sees that they have a clear advantage, or are at a clear disadvantage, and, rather than wait for the judge's ruling, settlement talks heat up. I'm sure Ron will have more to tell us later, and like many others here, I thank him for his being there today and being willing to share his observations here with us.
