Remember, these guys are about a moral crusade: “FREEDOM”. When competitively practical, yes, there may be Corporate backers of PUBPAT and its many friends. But the Corporate backers (call it Texas pacific or call it IBM) come and go as their competitive needs require their engagement. In fact, Corporate America even partners with the Free XYZ folks when it disadvantages their competitors (IBM and SUN immediately come to mind). More and more Corporate America is simply viewing Opensource, PUBPAT, Free XYZ folks, etc as just another competitor.

When traditional Corporate players are not engaged, it appears that the “FREEDOM” winds continue to blow without any discretion. Seriously, just look at the price pressure on telephony (they are now piloting SKYPE for the Enterprise, 1000+ employees), the price pressure on the music industry, the price pressure on the video content industry.

All the while, our system of Intellectual Property is failing important companies like Patriot Scientific… More importantly, Patriot Scientific’s patents are directly in the path of where these “FREEDOM” winds are blowing: Hardware.

The Free XYZ efforts to mobilize support for GPL Version 3, have been gradually imposing their disposition on the Hardware Manufacturers. Just look at GPL Version 3 which is being lead by who? Our friend Eben Moglen from PUBPAT.
