We had some discussion of this (which is better, settlement or win at trail?) last weekend. After thinking it through, I've come to the conclusion that it doesn't really matter, i.e., all that really matters is the dollar amount.  A settlement with the J2.5/ARM for small dollars does us little good (setting a precedent for all that follow). Likewise, going the distance and getting small dollars does us little good (also sets a precedent).  But getting big dollars sets the desired precedent, and essentially validates the patents. So I think it's all about the money (duh!).  Thus, I prefer a real big settlement ASAP, so we can really get the show on the road.
