Alliacense Appoints Carl Silverman Vice President, Licensingspan

CUPERTINO, Calif. – March 8, 2007 – Alliacense, a TPL Group Enterprise, today named Carl Silverman Vice President, Licensing, reporting to Mike Davis, Senior Vice President, Licensing. He comes to Alliacense from a successful start-up that was recently acquired by Abbot Diabetes Care, a $1 billion-plus medical devices firm.

According to Dan Leckrone, TPL Group Chairman, “Carl’s 30 years of experience in establishing, building, and demonstrating the value of Intellectual Property Assets as an integral element of successful business strategies in technology-based industries is remarkably consistent with the history and mission of The TPL Group.”

Davis added, “We are very pleased to add Intel’s former Group General Counsel to the Alliacense team. Carl’s extensive semiconductor industry insight will be a great asset as more and more global manufacturers are realizing the value and competitive edge they can achieve by becoming early purchasers of a Moore Microprocessor Patent™ (MMP) Portfolio license.

MMP Portfolio patents encompass fundamental design techniques that enable higher performance and lower cost digital electronic systems ranging from cell phones and portable music players to communications infrastructure and medical equipment as well as automobiles, which today utilize dozens of microprocessors.

During Silverman’s 17-year tenure at Intel, he established the IP group, led a highly successful licensing team and managed IP litigation. He was instrumental in earning industry-wide respect for Intel’s IP, transforming it into a competitive advantage. Earlier in his career, he led the IP group at Fairchild Semiconductor and also held IP management positions with GE and RCA. Active among IP professionals, Silverman has served as AAA arbitrator/mediator in handling IP disputes and on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of IPO. He is a member of the Licensing Executives Society as well as the California, New York and Patent Bars. Silverman holds a BS in Physics from City University of New York and a JD degree from Brooklyn Law School
