"I assume that it could affect a revenue stream from this patent. That
can impact a lot of research.
I've never heard about the "curse of Forth". But I am always
suspicious of anyone acting in the interest of the public. I see that
this is not the first patent that PUBPAT has chalenged. But it seems
that the large companies have a lot more to gain from patents being
chalenged. Anyone know who funds PUBPAT?
I find it laughable that they claim the Patriot patent is "causing
substantial public harm by threatening to levy additional costs on the
production of microprocessors". Anyone you know who feels
threatened? If this is the basis for chalenging patents, they should
go after all the patents on cell phones! Jeeze, it must cost some $10
or more just for the patents on the various vocoders in use. Aren't
patents part of doing business?"
