To settle, like NEC did, also shows the validity of the patents. I'd rather try collect as much money as possible than to go to court. In case of a favour ruling, you never know what comes next. In addtion to, time is running.........

Sure next company could also go to court and the game starts agian. IMO, the chance this happens is minimal. If we really have settlements with ARM and the remaining J2, other companies are forced to think about legal steps!
