PUBPAT’s own Directors are openly calling for the elimination of the Global Patent System and all traditional constructs of ownership!!
Everyone: Wake Up! This is not simply about our Patents…this is bigger than the validity of our patents.
The Asian Hardware Manufacturers like the J/3 are being pressured to move towards a model where they would sell a lot of microprocessors with the assumption that SOTWARE running on the machine is FREE!!! PUBPAT = Free Software. PUBPAT and the Free Software Foundation is convincing these Hardware Manufacturers out of Asia that their AGENDA will prevail…and that this new paradigm will greatly help the Hardware Manufacturers SELL a lot of boxes to customers.
There is a belief that if you remove the LICENSING of IT (Software and Hardware) for the intellectual property (patents), that the Asian Hardware Manufacturers will sell more microprocessors and hardware boxes. The Asian Hardware Manufacturers do realize that they could sell a lot more commodity boxes if SOTWARE was FREE!!! They could even sell a lot more boxes if all IT was free of intellectual property LICENSING.
These hardware manufacturers are being persuaded (in many cases successfully) to challenge our traditional system of stewarding technology and innovation: The Patent System. It is my belief that we are seeing this “in play” with Patriot Scientific and J/3.
You better believe that the Hardware Manufactures in Asia are on the receiving end of a lot of free business dinners from the PUBPAT/Free Software folks… PUBPAT and the Free Software Foundation are in heavy negotiations with the Asian Hardware Manufacturers.
Here is a quote from a Director at PUBPAT (Eben Moglen):
“We’re going to give an enormous gift to all the cell phone and gadget manufacturers of the world out of the One Laptop Per Child initiative…” He goes on to state “manufacturers throughout the Pacific Rim are screaming to be first or second sources of the One Laptop Per Child display.”
Those were Moglen’s words three months ago at the Plone Conference In Seattle.
A bit spooky????
