Apology to the Board

Yesterday I went round and round with Legaldog, it did get a bit out of hand, and for this I apologize. It started with Legaldog (subtly perhaps) suggesting that people try and flip their shares on a rise, and then buy back on the pullback. I pointed out that there are pitfalls in such action that should be considered, namely tax consequences (i.e., in CA, if the gain is big, the person would probably be hit with a 42.3% tax on the gain, so to just break even the pullback would have to be at least this amount). He did point out (indirectly) that it would depend on the individual's circumstance. Fair enough. But then he demanded I NOT provide such advice to the board. The advice was merely to take tax conseguences into consideration before a possible blunder based on HIS suggested action. I then asked why he should be permitted to suggest such action, and I not be permitted to point out the potential pitfall. No response, other than attacks suggesting I was ignorant, etc. The "discussion" quickly deteriorated, largely due to Legaldog's inability to effectively communicate, which isn't that big a deal except for those instances where his words were either blatantly incorrect (his cited definition of "aggregate", which he did later correct) or nearly indecypherable without using some imagination ("a 42% gain is still a 58% gain", on which he never acknowledged an error). I played his game for a while, and I acknowledged that it became purely an endeavor of entertainment. I now acknowledge that this was a mistake, and come only hope some others were amuzed. I do take great exception to one perception some took from the exchange: that I think I'm better than LegalDog, or anyone else. Everyone has their strengths and weaknesses, gifts and challenges - each contributes and finds happiness in their own ways. For instance, I believe that written communication is one of my strengths, and I believe that that it is a challenge for legaldog. So what? He certainly has strengths in other activities where I am challenged. Not to get too psychological, but I find it VERY peculiar that LegalDog, and others, perceived that I thought I was "better" than Legaldog. On the contrary, based on how one chooses to perceive, one could just as easily perceive that LegalDog believes he is better than me. This perception is a choice. Perhaps some should look inward before drawing such conclusions. I personally believe that all people should simply see themselves and others as equals, for the reasons stated in the above. We all bring something to the party, the benefit depending on the party we choose to attend. More apologies for this lengthy apology, but I felt some clarification was required. These things I KNOW.
