I am not sure where this OT issue is coming from other than left field, but for what it is worth, I run a publishing company (1/2 owner), have written or edited 15 books, ghostwritten 50 or so, and have my work in six languages. We routinely place titles with national book clubs, sell subsidiary rights to the big boys, etc. I am the acquisitions editor in addition to directing the day-to-day of the company. You don`t need a publicist as an author--you need a good manuscript. Everything else will fall into place (agent, than publisher). But the road can be long, and get ready for months or even years of rejection.
So Drebbin--where you going with this?
