I believe you are confusing the two licensing segments (chip makers and system manfucturers) with `industry sectors`. Clearly within the system manufacturers segment/arena there are multiple industries (the old sub-set within in a set). Sony is in an industry that is entirely different than the industry in which Hewlett-Packard competes. The first movers in an `industry` are the ones that get the discount that disadvantages their competitors. Giving HP a discount has little bearing on Sony and vice-versa; but giving HP a discount may have bearing on an industry pier like Dell etc ... Thus the Sony discount is likely to not be repeated with Philips or Matsushita etc.... Hope this makes sense to you. Best
