PTSC and who is running it. After the second dividend was announced it was discussed here about whether Pohl would have declared the dividend without having extreme confidence that another licensing deal was foreseeable in the near future. I believe that was answered today. I also believe this Sony deal was in the works for long time - I know, a real genius I am in figuring that out since they were dropped from litigation what, 8 months ago?
What this means to em is that number one, Pohl knows what he`s doing and what he`s doing is in the best interest of shareholders in general. Some will argue that the dividends were strictly to appease S/L. While they were certainly a windfall for S/L I believe Pohl and the BOD would have told S/L to sit on their thumbs had S/L pushed the divs without other licensing deals being in the works.
It also tells me that at times these deals will take awhile - no 30, 60, 90 day timeframe. So when Mac Leckrone says there are dozens of companies vying for licenses, I believe him. That doesn`t mean we are going to hear of new licensing deals every month. But it does mean that it is very unlikely we will go through very long periods of time without announcing another deal. This gives us a little bit of the consistency in revenues that everyone is looking for through royalty deals. The only advantage of receiving royalties is that you know that they are coming and therefore can project a minimum amount of revenue over a period of time. Well we can achieve the same thing, with much higher revenues, by consistently signing new licensing deals. Obvioulsy, the next 12 months will either bear out what I am saying, or prove me wrong. I am confident that I am not wrong.
This also means J3/shmay3 to me. They are but a sideline now. There will be more deals before anything significant happens with the J3. There are still a lot of big names out there. The J3 is just the leverage we need to show that we WILL go to litigation if negotiations are not reasonable. That`s a losing situation for anyone that wants to challenge us.
Mark, I`ll buy you that LaCosta cigar now. It`s just a matter of when you want to meet there.
