the Northridge quake hit. I believe it was Jan 1990 (I know it was MLK weekend). We lived in King Harbor and I commanded the reserve support structure (I & I staff) at the Navy/Marine Corps Reserve Center near Dodger Stadium. The government decided our building was damaged to the point it was unsafe (still being used by the City of LA as far as I know). I didn`t even wake up when the quake hit. It was not until the next morning when we saw the harbor was heavily damaged that we knew what had happened. We moved to Long Beach Naval Station marina. Exciting times...
