The Toronto Stock Exchange is having technical problems which is keeping it from reporting any of Wednesday's trading.

In a short statement, the TMX Group says it is halting trading on the TSX and the smaller TSX Venture Exchange.

The company said it was experiencing a service interruption on its exchange data feeds, but did not give any timetable for resolving the problem.

The exchange feeds that are down affect trading information and quotes.

The company says it will provide further updates. The exchange has had a history of computer difficulties.

For now, the halt is moving trades to other venues, said Bruce Latimer, trader at Dundee Securities.

"It's incredibly frustrating because we've got clients who have given us orders and we can't trade the stocks, and we're forced to send business or whatever names are interlisted down to the States so we're taking money out of the Canadian market and trading on the U.S. market," he said.
