If MEO management has held back news to maximize the impact, they may have been undone by the recent events in the market.

They can still save the day (if they really have the big one) by finding a lull in the crisis and using that opportunity to play up their discovery. But, as you suggested, it wil be longer road to success that existed a year ago.
