Days prior to my vacation, I started seeing postings about Paraffins. What an uproar it caused!

In Alberta, in an average year, 12,000 to 16,500 wells are drilled. If we add to that, all the other wells drilled elsewhere in Canada, as well as the ones in the USA we get a really big number being drilled every year. The week of July 25-08, there were 1,957 rigs working in the USA. North America is rather unique, in that the exploration company acts as a general contractor, hiring the individual service companies, whereas, elsewhere in the world, the tendency is for a Halliburton type company to be hired as the general contractor, thereby being the one responsible for solving all well problems.

My guess is that, over the years, thousands of wells have been drilled, all over the world, with Paraffins. Someone would have come up with a really good solution for Morgan County by now, right? And, that assumes one actually exists.

My point is that MEO has many experts on the payroll to solve these types of problems, or bring in other companies, like Hal, or Weatherford, or ….. They really don’t need our help solving technical issues. They’re our employees, and I don’t believe in micro-managing. I just want results.

The weather is good, progress is slowly chugging along, and reality has finally sunk in for Bill the Underachiever to depart.
