I still don't know if the huge find is GNZ or NOG but it appear from the links you provide that they belong to the Bakken formation which spread in Saskatchewan.

The oil is in the rock(shale) and is difficult to extract(costly). It seems that there are 3 or 4 method to extract.

Montello belongs to the Appalachian formation which spread from New York till a little south of Tennessee.
