VANCOUVER, April 23 /CNW/ - Mexivada is pleased to report that its Malambani-Diamond, Malambani-Gold, and Bitsandou-Diamond Permis des Recherches for diamonds and gold / connected substances in the Republic of Congo (Brazzaville) ("ROC Congo") were approved and signed on April 3rd by Hon. Denis SASSOU N'GUESSO, the President and Head of State of the ROC Congo. Mines Ministre Pierre OBA also signed these final decrees, granting exclusive tenure and title to the concessions to Compagnie Minière du Chaillu, Mexivada's wholly-owned Congo subsidiary. Mexivada recently also applied for Permis des Recherches for Diamonds and Gold at Vouka, located south of the Malambani concessions, in an area where Mexivada has made a new discovery of alluvial diamonds. Mexivada also holds prospecting permits that cover the prospective ground in Congo's Chaillu Massif.

Mexivada has begun its 2008 program of exploration for white and coloured diamonds in the ROC Congo. This exploration is being directed by Siva Sankar, a project geologist formerly with de Beers who has worked extensively in diamond exploration in Africa. The areas targeted include Malambani, Lepandja, Madoka, Bikelele, Carrefour, and Vouka, where kimberlite indicator minerals and diamonds up to 22 millimetres in diameter have been recovered locally. Mexivada is investigating an area at Madoka, where 3 larger diamonds were recovered and a metamorphosed kimberlite dike may have been found by the company, similar to dikes found in Gabon at Mitzic. A G-10 kimberlitic garnet was found in a low, swampy, garnet-rich area at Lepandja. Mexivada feels that the Chaillu area in the ROC Congo holds excellent potential for the discovery of kimberlitic bodies that contain large diamonds, including an abnormally high percentage of fancy coloured gem quality stones.
