Metanor Resources Inc.: Barry Pit Still Growing-New Extensions Confirmed by Drilling
VAL-D'OR, QUEBEC, CANADA--(Marketwire - April 14, 2009) - Metanor Resources Inc. (TSX VENTURE:MTO) is pleased to announce that a drilling campaign carried out on the Barry property confirmed new extensions of the pit towards the West and at shallow depth(still open at depth) and linked the west zone (zone 45) with zone 43.

Diamond drilling carried out in the prolongation towards the west of the Main zone (open pit) allowed to extend the northern branch of the Main zone approximately 50 meters towards the west. Channel samples taken from sheared volcanic units exposed approximately 70m to the west of the western extremity of the pit returned on section 930E a wide intersection of 4.38 g/t Au over 41.89m including a section grading 9.10 g/t Au over 7.79m to the north and a section grading 6.33 g/t Au over 17.50m to the south. In this sector, five diamond drill holes (MB-09-353, MB-09-364, MB-09-365 and MB-09-367) intersected wide mineralized zones which returned between 2.03 g/t Au and 5.18 g/t Au over interesting widths varying between 14.0m and 22.86m. These results confirm the continuity of the mineralized zones at shallow depth to the west of the actual open pit of Barry. A channel sample taken across a mineralized zone representing the extension of the northern branch on section 790E, or approximately 200m to the west of the actual pit, returned an intersection of 48.90 g/t Au or 5.19 g/t Au (Cut to 34.28 g/t) over 12.27m and guarantees the continuation of diamond drilling in this sector. The best gold intersections obtained to date during this drilling program are summarized as follows:

The true width is approximately 80 to 90% of the core length listed in the following table

Two diamond drill holes (MB-09-349 and MB-09-350) have tested the extension below the actual pit and confirmed the continuity at shallow depth of the Main zone mainly with a wide intersection of 3.12 g/t Au over 30.9m in hole MB-09-349.

This drilling program has also investigated the extension of mineralized zones extending between the Main zone (East pit) and the West zone. Hole MB-09-270 intersected on section 800 E a wide mineralized zone which returned 4.86 g/t Au over 27.0m and is interpreted as the western extension of Zone 43 and the eastern extension of the west zone (Zone 45). These mineralized zones are located approximately 80m to the south of the open pit.

Results obtained up to now continue to confirm the potential for significant additional resources in all the gold bearing zones at Barry.

Analyses were performed by fire assay at the Bachelor Mine laboratory with verification of some samples at the Bourlamaque Assay Laboratory of Val-d'Or, Quebec.
