I originally posted this in the PRB site, in response to someone who was worried about a lack of news (he inferred today's NR was not exciting enough) and the effect it was having on the SP.

If you are long on the stocks, it really doesn't matter, except to your ego and bragging rights, what the current SP is.  If you believe in the company, and that it will hit something significant, you will look at these lulls in SP as an opportunity to purchase more shares.  No one really believes that the SP will hit its full potential value in the short term.

There is still a lot of drilling left to do, in order to find the extent of the discovery.  No major is going to do that work - that is the job of the jr exploration companies.

I have no doubt that PRB and the rest of the JBL players will be bought out by a major.  The significance of the anomolies, and the fact that the region is littered with MMS and VMS, all of which have shown useful mineralization to this point.  However, there is still a lot of land out there that has not been properly explored.  Until that happens, the juniors could be cutting their own pursestrings by selling out at less than full value.  And the majors want a full portfolio.  At the cost of building the infrastructure, they will want to know the best finds.  There is more than 150 km of road to be laid through bog and boulder to the site.

By the way, this is not bashing.  I am very optimistic that the JBL players will all receive their full value.  But this is reality - this is not going to happen soon.  I have no illusions of retirement by Christmas.  Maybe after the 2010 Olympics, hehe.
