Anybody that has own and run a company knows that if capital is needed and the directors are unwilling to go outside for funds, selling a small portion of their stocks is a wise move.

$110K will fund their drilling and if they are right about finding the 'Mother Load', the 40K shares they sold will not make a big difference in their future wealth.
