The short positions will not be released until next week, probably Tuesday or Wednesday.  The release will be for the period ending Feb.15th however. Why the time lapse? I have no idea. Often by the time the short position is announced, the position could be covered. However with a stock like FNC if there is only 30k traded in a day and the short position is 350k, you can do the math and see they haven't been covered.
