There are various analogies re investing (in juniors). I am sure there are others but here is a couple and these could use some fine tuning:

Gambling - Claims staked but nothing found or drilled

Speculating - ore found but no mine devloped

Investing - Mine generating revenue

another is:

the feather, egg, chick and finally the chicken

Sometimes these are useful to keep things in perspective.
