What did Al do with Medtronics when they got approval of their pump? Was there initially a partner or did Al and Medtronics go it alone?

I ask this because Al has said time and time again they have polled doctors and talked with insurance companies etc. Could it be that Al thinks he can use doctors and insurance companies( assuming they are on board with the device/treatment as Al has hinted in an interview) to push the device/treatment?
