Thanks ViseGrip1. I've tried that and get things like http://www.agoracom.com/ir/MacDonald... instead of having a word highlighted with the link enbedded.

I've noticed in the post editor that there's two greyed out options. "Edit/Insert Link" and "Unlink". Could it be that being in the Mail Room I don't have the option to using those features?
