Jdog72, thanks for posting this article.  In reading over the objections of locals in European communities to developing lithium mines and reading some of the opposing arguments from more urban population centers in the same countries, it all sounded very similar to some of the things I have read about the disparity of opinions about lithium mining in South America.  Disruptions in water supplies and quality of the water table, possible damage to tourist economies from changes on the appearance of the actual mines, distribution of compensatory funds from the mining companies becoming a battle over who gets what ... all sounded similar.  One argument I don't remember seeing as to how it applied in Europe was that of indigenous peoples in South America where in some locations they claim that burial sites will be or are disrupted by lithium mining sites, although I believe the article you posted did mention a pre-historic site that might be damaged somewhere in Europe.

This article was very intersting and it provides a more balanced view of how a lithium mine in someone's back yard may not be viewed with overwhelming enthusiasm on the one hand vs how others in the same back yard scenario might classify it as an economic boon, as long as they are getting a slice of the pie.

Again, thanks for posting!   I am going to add this article to the Links File for future reference purposes.   Okiedo
