Activist Games

"Activists, having lost in court repeatedly, have decided to play new games --- games with interesting legal consequences. According to the new lawsuit filed in May by Lithium Americas, the activists have been engaged in: Stealing equipment, vandalization, unjustly profiting, unlawful drone operation, oppression, fraud, malice, and trespassing."
The above quote is from an article by author Austin Craig, dated 22 September 2023. The link is: Lithium Americas: This Is Ridiculous (NYSE:LAC) | Seeking Alpha
I would remind the reader that I have posted many times in the past about the nefarious and extra legal intent of activists such as Max Wilbert, but not limited to Mr. Wilbert. See my previous post titled: Max Wilbert: "Eco Warrior" and re: Max Wilbert: "Eco Warrior" for a start.
The link following will give you some idea of current positions of Max and friends from their Reddit site: We are Derrick Jensen, Lierre Keith, and Max Wilbert, the authors of Bright Green Lies: How the Environmental Movement Lost Its Way and What We Can Do About It. Ask Us Anything! : r/collapse (reddit.com)
Bright Green Lies is a book that will expose more of the true nature of Mr. Wilbert.
If you are interested in "Unbiased" positions regarding Mr. Wilbert then take a look at how he views the current suit against environmental activists by LAC:
Max Wilbert Archives - Deep Green Resistance News Service (dgrnewsservice.org)
Be sure to scroll down from that article a little further on the same page to the Max Wilbert article from 5 May 2023:
Mr. Wilbert paints a quite ugly picture of LAC for those who would believe all of his claims.
Mr. Wilbert: "As a society, we find ourselves in the midst of the 6th mass extinction event, a global climate catastrophe, and seemingly terminal overshoot. And as an environmental movement, despite our brave and inspired action, it has not been enough.
That’s why, for many years, I have been calling for an ecological revolution — a fundamental transformation of society — and organizing to make it happen."
To really, really know Max Wilbert you must take a while to review his writing on the Deep Green Resistance site:
Deep Green Resistance | Revolutionary Political Organization
The "Vision" of DGR, Deep Green Resistance, is:
A world where biodiversity is rising, dead zones are shrinking, and land-based cultures grounded in human rights and a sustainable relationship with the planet arise and flourish.
In short: a world without industrial civilization."
To appreciate the "action" proposed by DGR you only have to view their words:
"Action: Direct action and campaigns against injustice and destruction of the planet. We maintain a firewall between our members and any groups or individuals who may be engaged in underground action. For an explanation of why this is necessary, see our Security page."
So, what is the "firewall"?
"Here at Deep Green Resistance, we are an “aboveground” organization with a firewall between us and underground action. That means that our primary work is legal (although this varies depending on jurisdiction). Our members also take part in non-violent direct action of the sort common among aboveground movements. This is in contrast with “underground” organizations that conduct clandestine, highly illegal activities. We advocate for this, as we think coordinated underground action is the best chance for saving the planet.
We do not plan or carry out underground actions. We do not even know about these activities, except when public communiques (see our underground action calendar for examples) are made. Our role is to be the public organization advocating for and explaining these actions. We call this separation the firewall between aboveground and underground activities. Maintaining a firewall is essential for security and effectiveness."
You might find the "Rules of Security Culture" as a window into the soul of DGR:
Note: The following rules were created based on the legal and political situation in the United States.
Why would there be a need for these "Rules" if illegal actions were off the table? Then again, if illegal actions were on the table you would need such rules for "Security", eh?
DGR goes on to explain: "Nonviolent civil disobedience is illegal, but can sometimes be discussed openly. In general, the specifics of nonviolent civil disobedience should be discussed only with people who will be involved in the action or those doing support work for them.
It’s still acceptable (even encouraged) to speak out generally in support of monkeywrenching and all forms of resistance as long as you don’t mention specific places, people, times, etc., but only if this is legal in your own jurisdiction. Even if voicing support for monkeywrenching is legal in your area, be aware of possible repression or consequences so you can make an informed decision about what level of risk you would be comfortable with."
"It doesn’t matter whether you are guilty or innocent. It doesn’t matter how smart you are. Never talk to police officers, FBI agents, Homeland Security, etc. It doesn’t matter if you believe you are telling police officers what they already know. It doesn’t matter if you just chit chat with police officers. Any talking to police officers, FBI agents, etc. will almost certainly harm you or others."
"Don't snitch..." "Learn about interrogation tricks and threats." And the "Security Culture" notes go on and on as advice to followers of DGR to their minions as an educational method to keep them out of the hands of the legal authorities, a necessary precaution for those contemplating extra legal activity involement or knowledge of such activity.
Finally, I invite the reader to review a synopis of the Deep Green Resistance book as explained on the DGR webpage:
"Synopsis
Deep Green Resistance starts where the environmental movement leaves off: industrial civilization is incompatible with life. Technology can’t fix it, and shopping—no matter how green—won’t stop it. To save this planet, we need a serious resistance movement that can bring down the industrial economy. Deep Green Resistance evaluates strategic options for resistance, from nonviolence to guerrilla warfare, and the conditions required for those options to be successful. It provides an exploration of organizational structures, recruitment, security, and target selection for both aboveground and underground action*. Deep Green Resistance also discusses a culture of resistance and the crucial support role that it can play.
Deep Green Resistance is a plan of action for anyone determined to fight for this planet—and win."
In the above post I have placed in bold type some parts that were not placed in bold type in the original articles. I did this for emphasis of particular points.
It is important to remember that not all of the Thacker Pass resistance members, not all by a long shot, are of the ilk featured in these passages from Mr. Wilbert and his friends or as noted in the writings of DGR.
As in any organization the individual members and those merely associated with the organization, but not members of the organization, there are a wide spectrum of opinions, views and actions and complete unanimity of thought and action for those in either capacity as members or tag alongs is never achieved. Mr. Wilbert and the DGR represent the extremes and not the mean. I suspect that the majority of the resistance movement ot Thacker Pass may not even be aware of the extent to which Mr. Wilbert and the DGR have committed themselves on paper as goals and future actions to achieve those goals. I do not want to paint the whole Thacker Pass Resistance movement with a wide brush that lumps all in the same pot as Mr. Wilbert. I can not emphasize the need to differentiate him and the DGR from the bulk of those who have more peaceful and sincere purposes in mind.
At any rate, if there is still among the readers in our Agoracom LAC community anyone who thinks that it is a given that any future "resistance" actions of the environmental whackos will be miniscule and of no possible consequence, now that the legal battles to establish LAC's development of the Thacker Pass Mine are essentially over, those individuals might want to re-evaluate their opinion after reading more of the statements of Mr. Wilbert and the DGR.
Best to all. Looking forward to seeing how the share price does after the split and for the North American branch of LAC when DOE finally approves "the Loan".
