I agree fully with the chess analogy. And the timing of this explicit benefit to the community is great, weeks before a major court case. I know Judge Du will rule on the law, but sometimes there's a grey area, and some might err on the side of community benefit (kind of showing my hand there with the assumption that the mine will be beneficial overall).
Wrt interest in other juniors, I have a very different take. I like juniors (the right ones that is) because the real investment return comes from the risk that keeps the price so low until the risk is mitigated. Once a junior starts producing they're just another ALB or SQM; above average market returns to be sure in a lithium shortage, but not the kind of delta the junior enjoyed in getting to production. LAC will always be in my portfolio, but other juniors will become my pre-production LAC.
In any case, I'm sure we're all going to do just fine with our lithium investments. Good luck with your portfolio.
