So I emailed LAC with respect to Jon Evans’ conspicuous absence from the DOE lithium roundtable today, and I got an excellent response. Better yet, my son-in-law, who writes better emails than me, also wrote and got a response. I’m going to provide you all with both our emails, and their responses to those emails, for your consideration. My interpretation of the “poor timing” is that, in fact, it was due to the upcoming litigation that he was not included. Some good insight from them.

Here’s my email:

“Considering that Jon’s presence was highly anticipated, and investors were looking forward to his input, can you share why he was cancelled?

Did it have anything to do with the ongoing lawsuits over Thacker Pass in which the federal government is effectively the defendant?

This is going to cause quite a buzz among investors and we should understand what happened, soon.

Thank you very much.”

And this was their response:

“Hi Roy,

Thank you for your interest in Lithium Americas.

Jon’s absence this morning was due to unfortunate timing.

As for the lawsuits, you may have been the Reuters article from last week. The pre-construction work discussed relates to a small, less than ½ acre of disturbance. We were expecting this injunction as part of the appeal process and it was considered as part of our overall construction schedule, which is still targeted to begin in early 2022.

Overall, we are confident that Thacker Pass is the right type of project needed to support the US supply chain and provide hundreds of family-supporting jobs. We believe all environmental standards have been met or exceeded for the project, and we are undertaking extensive commitments to protect the local habitat and communities.
