Message: Various links to info on the Aluminum ion battery challenge to Lithium Ion batteries

I noted a link provided this morning on TOB and from that I researched several other links on the same subject.  The reports indicate a battery that is less expensive, less likely to undergo thermal runaway, enjoys much quicker recharging ( "Ultra Fast Charging"), that has a higher energy density, that has a lighter comparative weight vs a similar performing lithium ion battery due to the absence of a requirement for systems to cool the battery as a required in lithium ion batteries and, in addition, a battery with a longer cell life.

To be truthful, I was looking for an "Achilles Heel" among these several reports.  So far, I haven't found one.  The most likely would have been a more expensive approach, but the opposite appears to be the case.  Of course, the implications for lithium ion batteries by this competitive technology are immense, but predictions of a revolutionary battery alternative have existed for at least a couple of decades and have never previously panned out.  This possible alternative appears, at the very least, something to stay abreast of in terms of how it could have a negative effect on lithium mining adventures of all categories, Majors/Minors and "Wannabees".

Looking for more information on this development.  My hope is that several of the more technical minded members of this Hub will join the search for more information about this challenge and share both their researched information here as well as their subjective opinions.
