Latin American Minerals Retains TRU Group Inc to Accelerate Development of Salares Potash-Lithium Project in Argentina |
TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Jan. 14, 2009) - Latin American Minerals Inc. (TSX VENTURE:LAT) (the "Corporation" or "Latin American") has retained the TRU Group Inc ("TRU") (www.trugroup.com) in order to advance its Salares Potash-Lithium Project on the Puna Plateau, Argentina. TRU Group's lithium team is the world leader in resource evaluation, salar exploitation, brine and mineral lithium extraction and processing technologies, and is expert in the production and refining of lithium intermediates such as brines, lithium carbonate, lithium hydroxide, lithium chloride, butyl-lithium, lithium metal, lithium alloys and compounds. Latin American Minerals currently has staked over 93,000 hectares in the Puna Plateau (see attached Map 1: "Location of Latin American Minerals Inc.'s Salares Potash-Lithium Project showing location of mineral properties and crust and brine samples"). The Puna region hosts one of the largest concentrations of economic evaporite deposits, including the world's largest lithium producer, SQM (Sociedad Quimica y Minera de Chile S.A.) in the Atacama Salt Lake, and the fifth largest lithium producer, FMC Corp., in the Hombre Muerto Salt Lake.
