KOOTENAY STEPOUT DRILLING CONFIRMS HIGHGRADE MINERALIZATION 1600 METERS FROM PIT DISCOVERY
Kootenay Gold Inc. has provided drill results from five holes at its 100-per-cent-owned Promontorio silver discovery located in Sonora state, Mexico. Three holes are large step-out exploratory holes in a new Dorotea discovery 1,600 metres to the northwest of the PIT Discovery zone. A total of 57 holes have now been drilled at Promontorio.
Jim McDonald, chief executive officer of Kootenay, commented: "The new Dorotea area is along a northwest-trending structural zone. This structure can be traced for at least two kilometres northwest of Dorotea in airborne aeromagnetic and satellite photography. It appears to be open to the northwest and may project southeast into the northeast-trending structural zone in the Pit area. This represents an exciting new target discovered by drilling a known mineral occurrence. Dorotea is a positive indication of the discovery potential of the numerous other mineral occurrences within the 90,000-hectare Promontorio project."
Detailed mapping work and integration of recent assays are under way and the results will form the basis for designing the next drill program. Assay results are also pending on surface exploration along the northwest trend.
Drill results of holes KP 53 and KP 54 are step-out holes to the north and east of the Pit Discovery. KP 55 to KP 57 are in the new Dorotea discovery about 1,600 metres northeast of the Pit Discovery.
Geology
All five holes contain mineralization which occurs as pyrite, galena, sphalerite in veins, veinlets, disseminations and breccia infilling along with calcite, quartz, sercite and propylitic alteration.
