For thrill-seekers it's better than the excitement a roller coaster has to offer. ATAC Resources shareholders have been on a wild roller coaster-like ride of late. After a couple days of descent, it looks like the roller coaster car may be headed back up.

Shares climbed as the price of gold soared and its 50-50 joint venture partner, Klondike Silver (KS), announced that exploration programs have resulted in several new discoveries at its Connaught project in the Yukon. The program expanded on the highly successful soil geochemical programs of the past three years, and followed up with mapping and prospecting in areas of multi-element anomalies. The Connaught property lies in the headwaters of the 60 Mile placer gold district, within the Tintina gold belt, and at the northwestern end of the White gold district.

Investors have taken a great interest in the Yukon lately as 20% of the mineral exploration companies that made new highs on the TSX Venture Exchange in August were mineral explorers with projects in the Yukon. Speculative interest in the Yukon has been driven by recent exploration successes by

Underworld Resources (now Kinross Gold (K)), ATAC and Kaminak Gold (KAM). This new excitement has driven a large scale staking/property acquisition rush near Kinross’s White Gold project and Kaminak’s Coffee play.

Klondike Silver may not be alone in its Yukon quest, but it does continues "to discover significant mineralization by prospecting," which according to Klondike Silver President Richard Hughes, represent new zones that "warrant further exploration by mechanized trenching and

diamond drilling. We are optimistic in the potential for both gold and silver." Specifically, six new gold-silver veins were discovered by prospecting on the Connaught property, with geological mapping revealing new controls on mineralization located at the northwestern end of the White Gold District. Exploration at the Connaught Property has now revealed silver, gold and lead mineralization in 20 veins over an area measuring roughly 11 km by 4 km. Porphyry and skarn mineralization is alsopresent in the area.
