Much Farther Down to Go

I just walked by a T.V. in the doctor's lounge here at the hopsital and happened to see some newspeople discussing the markets on CNBC. They were talking from the floor of the New York Stock Exchange philosophizing about the crazy market action this morning. The Dow was briefly back up in positive territory as they were talking and one commentator stated that a trader had just walked by him and said, "You can't keep a good market down."

Well, that sentiment is enough to make me want to sell eveything I can.

Alas, the wisdom of the young, untested and hopeful, the wisdom of Neo-America, unhurt, untried and unsuffering, the fat, happy McDonald's generation. What do most people brought up in this country know about seriousness, about pain, about difficulty? Who has known hunger? Who has known poverty? Who has known real agony?

It's a carnival, this CNBC crap. Makes me want to throw up.

Bad things happen. Best not to be too arrogant. Best not to be too selfish. Better to study. Better to prepare.
