CD, In response to your above comments. Fortunately we have gold and thus cannot, by the laws of nature and existence, "spend ourselves into oblivion" The mere existence of gold will insure that there is a natural stopping point before oblivion is reached.

Thank goodness we do have gold, otherwise, you would most certainly be right.

The whole thing would just break down and be impossible to rebuild for perhaps thousands of years. This is the significance of gold and silver. They will not stop the madness from occurring, but they will limit it and let it, like a forest fire out of control, only burn so far.
