What is the mystique about the dollar? What is the mystique about America. If you go to Guam you see Japanese tourists all over the place wearing American Flags and Mickey Mouse on their tee-shirts. How many Americans wear Japanese emblems on their clothing here? Yes indeed. there is something magical about America indeed and the dollar IS America. And Gold is the antithesis of the dollar. It must end, just like GM must end sooner or later, but how long will it take. Ross Perot was on the cover of Fortune Magazine in 1986 for an article he wrote entitled. How I would fix GM. GM was blowing it then just as they're blowing it now. And yet people still by GM cars. I can't believe it. They build such crap campared to say Honda or Toyota, and people keep buying. How long would people continue to buy Coca-Cola if it became a really crappy product. So many memories associated with Coke and GM and America and the Dollar. When will it all end. It is so hard to know. People want something special to hold onto in life. For so many people in other lands, the dollar, America is that. Changes in sentiments are so hard to see and judge. I think of Richard Russell and how he lets the market speak for him. Some things can't lie. Like gold's inexorable rise. Something is very wrong here. People might keep buying American dollars for awhile yet, but there is a growing group that knows something is very wrong, and gold and silver are telling the story of that reality. What a fascinating time we live in! SB
