Kimber is a promising junior, and indeed Puplava called juniors the opportunity of the century a couple weeks ago on FSN. But are you putting all your eggs in one basket with this one?
There are a bunch of juniors Puplava's in:
Tyhee, Eastern Platinum, Minera Andes, Great Panther, Golden Star Resources, Esperanza Silver, Royal Standard Minerals, Andina Minerals, Vista Gold, Minefinders, First Majestic.. to name a few. I think it's wise to spread things around a bit.
On the other hand, I believe Kimber is the only one on which he is on the board of directors, and as of 12/31/2007 he only had larger holdings in Tyhee and Eastern Platinum among precious metal juniors - if you don't count Silvercorpmetals (and without the supressed price of Kimber due to the short position, this may have looked different).
The 13F-HR for Q1 for Puplava securities should be out any day, so we can see what he's been doing lately. I'm particularly looking for the silver junior he was going to take a "substantial" position in. He also mentioned he had $50million (presumable from clients) to move into juniors so should be interesting.
So yes, I like Kimber, but just as a portfolio shouldn't be entirely in juniors, it's probably not a bad idea to diversify among juniors too.
