Kaminak Gold Corporation (TSX VENTURE: KAM) today announced the strengthening of its team with the appointment of Tony Reda to Vice President Corporate Development; Tim Smith, M.Sc., to Exploration Manager; and Alan Wainwright, Ph.D, P.Geo., to Senior Geologist.
"Tony Reda has been our front line investor relations person since our inception," stated Rob Carpenter, President and CEO of Kaminak. "As many of you already know, Tony lives and breathes Kaminak, I am excited for his future and proud of his accomplishments."
Tony Reda, Vice President Corporate Development
Tony Reda has been with Kaminak since the Company's inception in 2005. As an Investor Relations professional, Tony created a highly effective two-way communication between the Company, the financial and investment communities and potential industry partners. In his new role, Tony will focus on the Company's strategic planning and business development while continuing to lead the investor communications and public relations initiatives.
Tony attained his formal business education at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, British Columbia. He began his career in the retail and wholesale industry and played an integral role in the successful start up, development, and management of several businesses. His passion for the mineral exploration industry, knowledge of business and years of experience in public relations enhance his ability to expand Kaminak's investor base and brand globally. Tony also serves as Co-Chair of the Association for Mineral Exploration British Columbia (AME BC) Communications Committee.
Tim Smith, M.Sc., Exploration Manager
Tim has over 15 years experience in mineral exploration and mining, having graduated with a M.Sc. in Geology in 1994 from the University of Canterbury, New Zealand. The first part of his career was spent with a major gold miner in the Archean Yilgarn Craton of Western Australia, where he was part of a team which discovered and developed two stand-alone gold mines in the greenstone belts of the Eastern Goldfields.
In 2000, he subsequently moved into the junior exploration sector with Tanami Gold NL. Starting as Project Geologist and working his way up to Geology Manager, Tim headed up all geological functions across the Company. In this role, Tim was responsible for the exploration of a major landholding (up to 70,000km2), and the resource development and eventual mine geology of the Coyote Gold Project, which is now Australia's most remote operating open cut and underground gold mine. As an offshoot to Tanami Gold, Tim also led the geology team for Jabiru Metals Ltd during the bankable feasibility study into the VHMS Cu-Zn-Ag Jaguar Deposit, which is also now an operating underground mine.
Tim is currently focused on Kaminak's Coffee Project in the Yukon Territory where his experience in leading geological teams from initial discovery through resource extension, definition and feasibility to eventual mining, will be invaluable to the Company.
Alan J. Wainwright, Ph.D., P.Geo., Senior Geologist
Dr. Wainwright is an economic geologist with mineral exploration and research experience in North America, South America and Asia. He completed B.Sc. and M.Sc. degrees in geology at McGill University (2000) and University of Toronto (2003) and has explored for base and precious metals with major and junior companies including Rio Algom and Falconbridge in a variety of ore deposit settings such as porphyry, epithermal, magmatic sulfide and sediment-hosted environments. Alan completed his Ph.D. at The University of British Columbia (Mineral Deposit Research Unit; 2008) on the volcanic and magmatic framework of the super-giant copper-gold deposits in the Oyu Tolgoi porphyry district, Mongolia. Dr. Wainwright is a professional geoscientist registered in the Province of British Columbia (P. Geo; APEGBC).
Tim Smith and Alan Wainwright will greatly enhance Kaminak's Yukon capabilities and support the company's North American generative initiatives. These esteemed geologists will complement Kaminak's Chief Geologist Craig Finnigan's efforts and add value and depth to an already strong technical team.
