“Farther North, we have earmarked a billion dollars to build access to the Ring Of Fire.
I just want to stop on that for one second. I know there’s a lot of rhetoric about what’s happening at the Ring Of Fire and is there any work being done.
I just want you to know there are corridor studies being done. There is work that is being done with the First Nations communities in order to prepare that area for development.
“I know the commodity prices are down, but my intention is that we be ready when those cyclical commodity prices go up. And so that’s why we continue to work there and it is one of the things that we’re talking with the federal government about,” the Premier said, adding that hydro lines and building a new year-round road are also matters to be consider.
“Along with the economic development there is the opening up of the communities there. So it is part of the conversation around all-weather roads and hydro-electric connectivity,” she said.
